The central region of Brazil is the environment of the cerrado, or Brazilian savannah. The vegetation is composed of low plants and grasses, with spaced occurrence of small and tortuous trees. Known in Brazil as "canary of the land", the Sicalis flaveola stands out for the yellow color, more intense in the male, that has a reddish stain on the top of the head. In Brazil, the expression "of the land" is common to differentiate something native that resembles something existing in Portugal. The true Canary is a European species.
